Compressor housing must go straight on the turbocharger assembly without tilting. Tilting may cause compressor blade to tip, or the compressor shaft can be damaged. |
- Put an alignment mark on the new turbocharger cartridge in the same location as the old turbocharger cartridge.
- Align the marks and connect compressor housing (1) to turbocharger cartridge (2).
- Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (4).
- Install bolts (4). Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of
40 ± 3 N·m (30 ± 2 lb ft) . - Rotate turbocharger cartridge (2) in order to ensure that the turbocharger cartridge (2) does not contact the compressor housing (1).
- Align the marks and connect turbine housing (3) onto turbocharger cartridge (2). Install clamp assembly (5) and tighten to a torque of
20 N·m (177 lb in) . Tap lightly all around clamp assembly (5). Retighten clamp assembly (5) to a torque of30 ± 2 N·m (266 ± 18 lb in) . Tap lightly all around clamp assembly (5). Tighten clamp assembly (5) to a final torque of30 ± 2 N·m (266 ± 18 lb in) . - Rotate turbocharger cartridge (2) in order to ensure that turbocharger cartridge does not contact the turbine housing (3).
