Brakes, Indicators and Gauges - Test
Before you operate the machine, perform the following checks.
- Inspect the brake indicator lights in the cab. Look for broken lenses on the gauges. Check for broken indicator lights, broken switches, and other broken components in the cab. Look for any inoperative gauges.
- Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".
- Start the engine. Check the brake system for oil leaks and for damaged brake lines.
- Turn on all machine lights. Check for proper operation.
- Sound the horn. Listen for proper operation.
- Test the parking brake. For the proper test procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Braking System - Test".
- Test the service brakes. For the proper test procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Braking System - Test".
- Test the load brakes. For the proper test procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Braking System - Test".
- Move the shift control lever to the P position. Stop the engine.
