Coolant Temperature Is Low

Usage:

3412 DK6
Use this procedure in order to troubleshoot a low coolant temperature.

Probable Causes

  • Faulty water temperature regulator

  • Long idle periods

  • Light loads

Troubleshooting Test Steps  Value  Results 

1. Check for a Faulty Water Temperature Regulator.

A. A regulator that is stuck open can cause overcooling. Overcooling also occurs when the water temperature regulator is stuck between the open and closed position.

B. Coolant leaks that are around the water temperature regulator can cause overcooling.
 

Water Temperature Regulator 

Result : The water temperature regulator is OK.

Proceed to Test Step 2.

Result : The water temperature regulator is NOT OK.

Repair : Replace the water temperature regulator.

If the problem is not resolved, proceed to Test Step 2.
 

2. Check for Light Engine Loads.
 

Engine Load 

Result : The engine load is light for the applied application.

Repair : Increase the engine load to minimum load for the applied application.
