If the pump does require service, refer to the following illustrations and parts lists.

HEUI Pump Service Tips
When servicing the pump inspect the pump drive gear (8). If the pump drive gear (8) is loose or damaged, the pump group should be replaced and the engine oil filter should be changed.
Item 4 (Plug) in the charts and illustrations is the only plug of the pump group that is serviceable. The other plugs of the pump group are not serviceable. Leakage from any other plugs other than item 4 could be an indication of internal damage. If there is leakage from plugs other than item 4 the pump should be replaced.
Inspect the O-ring seal (9). If it is worn or damaged replace it.
When the pump drive gear (8) is installed torque the drive gear bolt (3) to 110 ± 14 N·m (80 ± 10 lb ft)
If any of the following fittings have been removed, tighten the fittings to the following torques:
-
- * Oil pump inlet: 26 ± 3 N·m (19 ± 2 lb ft)
- * Oil pump outlet: 23 ± 2 N·m (17 ± .5 lb ft)
- * Fuel pump inlet: 17.5 ± 2 N·m (13 ± 1.5 lb ft)
- * Fuel pump outlet: 17.5 ± 2 N·m (13 ± 1.5 lb ft)
- * Oil pump inlet: 26 ± 3 N·m (19 ± 2 lb ft)
Tighten HEUI pump mounting bolts to 28 ± 14 N·M (80 ± 10 lb ft).
