NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Isolate the electric power generation set. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Generator Isolating for Maintenance" for the correct procedure.

  2. Drain the cooing system until the level of the coolant is below the water temperature regulator housing. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedure.

  3. Remove tube assembly (1). Remove the O-ring seals (not shown).

  4. Remove tube assembly (3) and (4). Disconnect hose assembly (2).

  5. Remove tube assembly (6). Support tube assemblies (5) with suitable straps. Remove tube clamps (7).

  6. Remove bolts (8) and remove water temperature regulator housing (9).

  7. Remove gasket (10) and water temperature regulators (11).

  8. Remove lip seals (12).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install water temperature regulators (11) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Use Tooling (A) to install lip seals (12).
