Start By:
- Remove the turbochargers.
- Remove the accessory drive, if necessary.
- Remove the starting motors.
- Remove the manual barring group.
- Remove the camshaft drive gears.
- Remove the crankshaft rear seal.

- Remove the bolts that hold the engine oil pan to the rear housing.

455 kg (1000 lb) . - Remove bolts (1) that are inside the opening for the accessory drive.
- Remove bolts (3) that are inside each camshaft drive gear opening.
- Remove bolts (4) that hold rear housing (2) in position. Remove rear housing (2) from the cylinder block.
- Remove the gasket and the O-ring seals from the cylinder block.
- Place the gasket and the O-ring seals in position on the rear of the cylinder block.
- Trim the gasket that is located between the rear housing and the cylinder block. Trim this gasket even with the bottom of the cylinder block.
- Apply Tooling (B) to the engine oil pan and replace the section of the gasket for the engine oil pan. Apply Tooling (C) to the top of the section of the new gasket. Apply Tooling (C) to the intersection of the cylinder block, engine oil pan, and rear housing. Tooling (C) will assist with installation of the rear housing.

455 kg (1000 lb) . - Place rear housing (2) in position on the cylinder block. Install the following bolts: (1), (3) and (4).
- Place the support brackets for the turbochargers in position on the rear housing. Install the bolts that hold the support brackets in place.
- Tighten bolts (1), (3), and (4) to the correct torque. Refer to Specifications, "Housing (Rear)" for the correct tightening sequence.
- Install the bolts that hold the engine oil pan to the rear housing.
End By:
- Install the crankshaft rear seal.
- Install the camshaft drive gears.
- Install the manual barring group.
- Install the starting motors.
- Install the accessory drive, if necessary.
- Install the turbochargers.
