Start By:
- Remove engine oil filter housings.
- Remove the front idler gears.
- Remove the crankshaft front seal.
- Remove the fuel transfer pump.
- Remove the priority valve.

- Drain the engine oil from the engine oil pan to a level that is below the outlet elbow. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil - Change" for the correct draining procedure.
- Remove the oil suction tube.
- Remove the oil supply tube that is between the prelubrication oil pump and the oil distribution tee.
- Remove the bolts that hold the engine oil pan to the bottom of the front housing.

Illustration 1 g00612730 - Remove the following O-ring seals from the front housing: (1), (3) and (4).
- Remove sleeve (2). Remove the O-ring seals from the sleeve.
Note: Sleeve (2) carries filtered oil to the crankshaft. Therefore, cleanliness is important during this procedure.

Illustration 3 g01296597 - Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to the top of front housing (6). The weight of front housing (6) is approximately
256 kg (565 lb) .Show/hide tableIllustration 4 g01296604 - Remove the necessary bolts and install Tooling (B) in the cylinder block. Remove the remaining bolts that hold the front housing in place. Carefully move the front housing along Tooling (B). Remove the front housing.
- Remove gasket (7) from the front of the cylinder block.

Illustration 5 g01296610 - If necessary, remove tube assembly (8) from front housing (6).
- Install tube assembly (8) in front housing (6).

Illustration 7 g01296604 - Install Tooling (B) in the front of the cylinder block.
- Place gasket (7) in position on Tooling (B).
- Trim gasket (7). Trim this gasket even with the bottom of the cylinder block.
- Apply Tooling (C) to the engine oil pan and replace the section of the gasket for the engine oil pan. Apply Tooling (D) to the top of the section of the new gasket. Apply Tooling (D) to the intersection of the cylinder block, engine oil pan, and front housing. Tooling (D) will assist with installation of the front housing.

- Remove Tooling (B) and install the remaining bolts.

Illustration 10 g00612730 - Place the O-ring seals in position on sleeve (2). Apply clean engine oil to the sleeve.
- Install sleeve (2) in the front housing.
- Install the following O-ring seals: (1), (3) and (4). Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals.
- Trim the bottom of the front housing gasket even with the bottom of the cylinder block.
- Install the bolts that hold the engine oil pan to the bottom of the front housing.
- Install the oil supply tube that is between the prelubrication oil pump and the oil distribution tee.
- Install the oil suction tube.
- Fill the engine oil pan with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil - Change" for the correct filling procedure.
