Idler Gears (Rear) - Remove

Start By:
- Remove the rear housing.

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Remove bolts (3) and retainer (2).
- Attach a suitable lifting device to gear (1). The weight of gear (1) and gear (8) is approximately
55 kg (121 lb) . Remove gear (1) and gear (8) from shaft (9). - Remove bolts (7) that hold gear (1) and gear (8) together. Separate the gears.
- If necessary, remove the bearing from gear (8).
- Remove bolts (10) and shaft (9).
- Remove one bolt (6) and install Tooling (A).
- Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to remove shaft (11) and gear (4). The weight of shaft (11) and gear (4) is approximately
41 kg (90 lb) . Remove bolts (12). Remove shaft (11) and gear (4). - Remove Tooling (A), remaining bolts (6), and retainer (5). Remove gear (4) from shaft (11).
- If necessary, remove the bearing from gear (4).
- Repeat Step 6 through Step 9 for the other idler gear.
