Improved Hose In Turbocharger Oil Lines Group Resists Deterioration Caused By Heat

Usage:

3176 Truck Engines

Description of Change: A drain hose in the turbocharger oil lines group has been improved. Formerly, the hot oil flowing through the drain hose could cause the hose to become hard. This could result in an oil leak. The new drain hose is made from material that resists deterioration caused by high temperatures. The new drain hose will provide increased service life. New heavy duty clamps are required with the new drain hose.

Location of drain hose (1) and clamps (2) in the 7C1759 Turbocharger Oil Lines Group.

Adaptable To: The new and former components are identified in the chart and illustration. The new components are adaptable to all 3176 Truck Engines.

Field Repair

The 7C4425 Drain Hose can be replaced with a piece of 9X2358 Hose (bulk) that is 80.0 mm (3.15 in) long. Install the 9X2358 Hose with two 5P2230 Heavy Duty Clamps. Tighten the clamp screws to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (9 ± 1 lb ft).
