5P7437 Adapter (Part Of 8T5301 Diesel Timing Adapter Group) Must Be Modified To Work On Current Fuel Lines

Usage:

3400 Truck Engines

The 5P7437 Adapter (part Of 8T5301 Diesel Timing Adapter Group) must be modified to work on the fuel lines on the current engines. The adapter group is used with either the current 8T5300 Timing Indicator Group or the earlier 6V3100 Timing Indicator Group to determine fuel injection timing.

Changes were made to the external fuel lines to reduce vibration related problems. One of those changes resulted in a collared washer on the fuel injection pump end of the lines. This collared washer prevents the 5P7437 Adapter from being installed, and sealing correctly.

Use a 1U8165 Drill (8.70 mm diameter) to enlarge the center hole in the adapter. Use a grinder to remove 2.0 mm (.08 in) from the threaded end of the adapter. The overall length, after grinding, should be 20.5 mm (.81 in). See the illustration. A modified 5P7437 Adapter can still be used on fuel injection lines without the collared washer. Future 5P7437 Adapters will have the larger diameter center hole and be shorter.

Dimension for modification of 5P7437 Adapter.
