Fuel Injection Lines - Remove and Install - Non M.C.S. Fuel Injection Lines

Usage:

C7.1 JME

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the aftercooler.

  2. Remove the heat exchanger.

------ WARNING! ------

Contact with high pressure fuel may cause fluid penetration and burn hazards. High pressure fuel spray may cause a fire hazard. Failure to follow these inspection, maintenance and service instructions may cause personal injury or death.



NOTICE

Ensure that all adjustments and repairs that are carried out to the fuel system are performed by authorized personnel that have the correct training.

Before beginning ANY work on the fuel system, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information and High Pressure Fuel Lines" for safety information.

Refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Cleanliness of Fuel System Components" for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: High-pressure fuel lines cannot be reused. Discard high-pressure fuel lines when removed.

  1. Fully loosen nuts (1a) and (1b). Remove bolt (2) and remove fuel line assembly (3). Discard fuel line assembly (3).

  2. Disconnect harness assemblies (4). Remove bolts (5) and position harness (6) aside.

  3. Remove bolts (8a) and (8b). Separate clamps (7a) and (7b).

  4. Fully loosen nuts (9). Remove fuel injection line assembly (10). Discard fuel injection line assembly (10). Repeat for the remaining fuel injection line assemblies (10.)

Installation Procedure

  1. Install fuel injection lines (10) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten fuel injection lines (10) to a torque of 50 N·m (37 lb ft)

End By:

  1. Install aftercooler.

  2. Install heat exchanger.
