Cracking of Terminal Box Panels On Certain G3508 50Hz Generator Sets{1205, 4460}

Usage:

G3508 CPJ
Engine:
G3508 (S/N: CPJ1-UP; CPS1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Due to excessive vibration, cracks have developed in the terminal box panels on some of the above generator sets.

Occasionally, cracks have developed on generator barrels and adapter brackets.

Solution

To reduce the level of vibration, install the heavier 387-4466 Damper Gp which includes the 171-4570 Damper Gp and 1N-3482 Adapter . Install the heavier group in place of the lighter 8N-7182 Damper Gp which includes the 193-3288 Damper and 7W-3409 Damper Adapter .

The same size hardware can be used for the heavier 171-4570 Damper Gp and 1N-3482 Adapter . Do not reuse the same hardware. Obtain new hardware.

Upon installation, make sure that the dash marks on the damper and adapter match the dash mark on the engine crankshaft.
