冷却液经由连接到散热器或热交换器 (9) 的弯管流到水套水泵 (1)。 冷却液通过发动机机油冷却器 (2)。

注: 水泵出口处有一个开口,以使远程水泵能够连接到系统上。 如果发动机上的水泵出故障,可以使用远程水泵。

冷却液流入缸体内的通道。 此水道靠近缸体后部 V 字形部分的中间。 流经机油冷却器的冷却液在右后气缸处流入缸体的水套中。 冷却液经由分配歧管流到缸体的两侧。 分配歧管与所有气缸的水套相连接。 主分配歧管位置就在主轴承油道之上。

冷却液向上流经水套。 冷却液自下而上地流经缸套。 水套在接近缸套顶部的地方变窄。 最小的区域是温度最高的区域。 这一限流区(变窄的区域)使得冷却液流得更快以便使缸套获得更好的冷却。 冷却液从缸套的顶部流入缸盖,在此冷却液被引导流经温度最高的零件。 冷却液流到缸盖(每缸一个)的顶部。 冷却液经由一个弯管从缸盖流出然后流入水歧管 (5)。 冷却液接着经由此歧管流到温度调节器壳体(节温器)。

水温调节器壳体 (6) 分成上部流动和下部流动两部分。 调节器壳体使用四个温度调节器。 四个温度调节器的感温球处于壳体下部的冷却液内。 在调节器开启之前,冷的冷却液经由旁通管路被输送回水泵进口。 当冷却液的温度升高到足够开启调节器时,流经旁通管路的冷却液受到节流限制。 当调节器开启时,冷却液环流过出口回到散热器或热交换器 (9)。
