Exhaust Leaks on C175 Generator Sets with the 290-1620 Exhaust Adapter and the 289-9969 Exhaust Adapter {1061} Caterpillar

Problem

The joint between bellows assembly (2) and exhaust adapter (1) is not properly sealed. This gap causes the bellows to be loose, resulting in exhaust leaks. Refer to Illustration 1.

Solution

A backup flange with a smaller inner diameter needs to be mounted between the bellows and the exhaust adapter. Refer to Illustration 2.

Contact the DSN in order to receive the back up flanges if the back up flanges are not already installed between the bellows and the exhaust adapter.
