Note: Some different types of vibration dampers are available for use. The following procedure describes the removal and installation of a typical vibration damper assembly and damper group.

  1. Remove bolts (2) and guard assembly (1).

  2. Remove two bolts (3). Install Tooling (A). Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to vibration damper (4). The weight of vibration damper (4) is approximately 52 kg (115 lb).

  3. Remove remaining bolts (3) and vibration damper (4).

  4. Remove the adapter from Tooling (A). The weight of the adapter is approximately 29 kg (64 lb).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install vibration damper (4) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Ensure that the mark on the vibration damper is in alignment with the mark on the end of the crankshaft.

    2. Apply molybdenum disulfide to the threads of bolts (3). Install bolts (3). Remove Tooling (A) and install remaining bolts (3). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 1150 ± 60 N·m (850 ± 44 lb ft).
