下列事件可能造成未燃烧的燃气残留在空气进气歧管和排气歧管：
- 紧急停机
- 发动机超速
- 发动机意外停机
- 电子控制模块（ECM）尝试关闭气体关断阀失败
- 尝试起动发动机多次失败
尝试起动发动机多次失败后未燃烧的燃气将残留在空气进气歧管和排气歧管。 在连续尝试起动发动机过程中，增加到一定浓度的未燃烧的燃气可能能被点燃。
执行下列步骤以便清除未燃烧的燃气：
- 如果 Caterpillar 电子技师（ET）没被联接到发动机，则将 Cat ET 连接到发动机上。
- 确认"发动机净气周期"参数的值等于 10 秒钟，少于"盘车周期时间"参数的值。
- 将发动机控制置于起动模式。 发动机将按"发动机净气周期"盘车。 然后，燃气切断阀将获得动力并且能开始点火。 发动机将起动。
- 继续前面的步骤。
