New Springs Available For Forward And Reverse Clutches, And New Tool To Correctly Position The Clutches Of Twin Disc MG514 Marine Transmission{3302,0626}

Usage:

Some 5L5587 Springs used in the forward and reverse clutches of the Twin Disc MG514 Marine Transmission can make contact as the clutches rotate. These springs are green and they have been replaced in production and are available for parts service with new springs that are black. The part number did not change.

Illustration 2. Dimensions to fabricate tool.

When a MG514 Marine Transmission is disassembled for repair the 5L5587 Springs must be inspected for signs of contact. If the springs show signs of contact they must be replaced with the new black springs.

When the clutches of a MG514 Marine Transmission are assembled, the springs of one clutch must be in alignment with the spaces between the springs in the other clutch.

A fabricated tool, see Illustration 1, can be used to hold the forward and reverse clutches in the correct position until the output gear is installed. Fabricate the tool as shown in Illustration 2 from mild steel.
