The 5P4809 Contact Point shown in the parts chart was added to the 5P6524 Engine Timing Indicator Group so the former procedure, if desired, can be used to "zero" the dial indicator. The 5P4809 Contact Point is used with D353, D379, D398, and D399 Engines.

Four new contact points and a container have been added to the 5P6524 Engine Timing Indicator Group. See the chart that follows.
The four contact points were needed because of the introduction of the 3204 Direct Injection Engine, and the procedure change to Special Instruction "Using The 5P6524 Engine Timing Indicator Group and 1P540 Flow Checking Tool Group", Form No. SMHS7083-01. The Special Instruction changed the procedures used to "zero" the dial indicator used to find piston top center. The change in procedures was needed to give enough indicator travel for the 3400 Series Direct Injection Engines and at the same time, have a common procedure for all models.
The chart that follows can be used as a reference for the tools needed for a given engine.
