New Dashpot Spring Gives A Reduction In "Overshoot"{1264}
Usage:
3408 and 3412 Industrial Engines (67U, 38S)
Description of Change: A new dashpot spring is used in the governor on 3408 and 3412 Generator Sets (60 Hz) equipped with direct injection fuel systems. The new spring gives a reduction in engine "overshoot", (the measure above normal engine RPM setting when the load is suddenly changed from "full load" to "no load"). This reduction in "overshoot" is from 18% to just under 10% and the reduction in spring rate is from 18 lbs/inches (2.15 N/mm) to 5.5 lbs/inches (0.96 N/mm).
Adaptable As: The new 6N1777 Dashpot Spring is a direct replacement for the former 6N2517 Spring. The new 6N1777 Spring has yellow paint on it for identification.
