Usage:
3408 Industrial, Marine and Truck Engines;
631D, 633D and 637D Tractors
Description of Change: A gasket with a higher strength material is now used in the flywheel housing group for the above models. Also, the new gasket has more resistance to damage from oil than the former gasket. Both of these improvements give the new gasket a longer service life than the former gasket.
Adaptable As: The new 7N9331 Gasket-Cylinder Block (Rear) is a direct replacement for the former 4N5713 Gasket-Cylinder Block (Rear) which is canceled.
INSTALLATION: Use the new procedure shown on Page 2 of the July 4, 1977 Service Magazine to tighten flywheel housing bolts.
NOTE: Do not use a gasket sealer or any type of lubricant to install the new gasket. Gasket sealer or lubricant will cause the gasket to become soft and the result can be oil leakage. The recommendation now is to use guide pins.
