Improved Fastening for the Turbocharger to the Exhaust Manifold {1052, 1053}

Usage:

G3516 4EK
Engine:
G3516 (S/N: CPG1-UP; 4EK1-UP; CSZ1-UP)

Description of Change: The new stainless steel bolts and nuts are more durable than the previous bolts and nuts. Spacers and washers have also been added in order to increase the bearing load.

Adaptable To: The 201-6884 Turbocharger Gp has new fasteners. Refer to Table 1.

  1. Coat the bolt threads and the bearing surface of the washers with 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound .

    Note: Because of interference, assemble the fasteners according to Illustration 2.

  1. Align the compressor housing with the exhaust manifold in order to get all four nuts started. Tighten all four nuts snugly.

  1. Tighten one bolt to 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft).

  1. Tighten the diagonal bolt to 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft).

  1. Tighten the remaining two bolts to 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft).

  1. Repeat the tightening sequence with all four bolts in order to verify that the torque is 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft).
