1. Use Tooling (A) to lift one side of the machine.

2. Use Tooling (B) to support the machine. Remove Tooling (A).

3. Remove access cover (1).

   Personal injury or death can result from grease under pressure. Grease coming out of the relief valve under pressure can penetrate the body causing injury or death. Do not watch the relief valve to see if grease is escaping. Watch the track or track adjustment cylinder to see if the track is being loosened. Loosen the relief valve one turn only. If track does not loosen, close the relief valve and contact your Caterpillar dealer.

4. Turn relief valve (2) counterclockwise to open relief valve (2). This Step will loosen the track assembly.

5. Use two people to remove track roller guard (3). The weight of track roller guard (3) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

6. Repeat Step 5 for the inside track roller guard.

7. Remove track guide guard (4).

8. Repeat Step 7 for the inside track guide guard.

9. Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (C). Position Tooling (C) under track roller assembly (5). The weight of track roller assembly (5) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb).

10. Remove bolts (6). Use Tooling (C) to remove track roller assembly (5).

11. If necessary, repeat Steps 9 and 10 for remaining track roller assemblies (5).

1. Position the track roller assemblies according to the dimensions in the Illustrations above depending on the type of undercarriage. Position the first track roller (R1) and then position the other track rollers according to the appropriate dimensions.

2. Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to position track roller assembly (5). The weight of track roller assembly (5) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb).

3. Install bolts (6).

   Note: Refer to Table 2 for torque specifications for bolts (6).

   M12	120 ± 20 N·m (89 ± 15 lb ft)
   M16	270 ± 40 N·m (199 ± 30 lb ft)

4. If necessary, repeat Steps 2 and 3 for remaining track rollers (5).

5. Install track guide guard (4).

6. Repeat Step 5 for the inside track guide guard.

7. Use two people to install track roller guard (3). The weight of track roller guard (3) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

8. Repeat Step 7 for the inside track roller guard.

9. Use Tooling (A) to raise the machine. Remove Tooling (B). Lower the machine with Tooling (A). Remove Tooling (A).

10. Turn relief valve (2) clockwise to close relief valve (2).

11. Adjust the track assembly.
