Note: When using the quick coupler to engage a work tool, always verify that the coupler wedges are engaged in the proper position to lock the work tool. Visually inspect the coupler wedge position or manipulate the tool in a manner that will confirm that the tool is locked in place.
The quick coupler gives the machine the ability to change work tools without leaving the cab. Press the bottom of the quick coupler switch (9) to engage the coupler pins. To release the coupler pins, the red tab on the bottom of the switch must be pressed to unlock the switch then press the top of the switch to activate the system.
The quick coupler valve is located on the left side of the loader frame underneath the cab. The load sense solenoid (2) and extend/retract solenoid (4) are used to engage or disengage the work tool with the quick coupler pins. Two manual valves (8) allow the oil to flow from the quick coupler valve to the quick coupler cylinders (7). The quick coupler cylinders for the quick coupler locking pins are located in the coupler frame.

Oil for the quick coupler valve is supplied from the implement valve. In order to extend quick coupler cylinders (7), load sense solenoid (2) is energized by the relay driver module and oil is sent to upstroke the main pump. Extend/retract solenoid (4) is de-energized by quick coupler switch (9). Oil flows through the solenoid valves, the manual valves (8), and to the head end of quick coupler cylinders (7). Oil in the rod end of quick coupler cylinders (7) flows through manual valves (8) and extend/retract solenoid valve (2) to the hydraulic tank.
In order to retract quick coupler cylinders (7), load sense solenoid (2) is energized by the relay driver module and oil is sent to upstroke the implement pump. Extend/retract solenoid valve (4) is energized by the quick coupler switch (9). Oil flows through extend/retract solenoid valve (4), the manual valves (8), and to the rod end of quick coupler cylinders (7). The oil also flows to the pilot port of the pilot operated check valves (6) located on the cylinder. The pressure applied to check valves (6) will allow the oil in the head end of quick coupler cylinders (7) to flow back through check valves (6), manual valves (8), extend/retract solenoid valve (4), and to the hydraulic tank.
When the quick coupler system is equipped on the machine, the relay driver module and the implement ECM will control the operation of the quick coupler.
The relay driver module and the implement ECM will use the two solenoid valves to control the system. The Implement ECM monitors the signal to the extend/retract solenoid which in turn sends a signal to the relay driver module. The relay driver module controls the load sense solenoid valve.
The extend/retract solenoid is controlled through a 24 V switch (9). The implement ECM reads the 24 V signal to direct the relay driver module to engage or not engage the load sense solenoid.
The quick coupler state can only be changed when the engine is in operation. the ECM will not allow the state of the quick coupler to change with the engine OFF.
When the quick coupler is enabled and the switch is pressed to engage the quick coupler, an audible beep will sound three seconds after the engage solenoid is energized by the implement ECM.
However, the beep does NOT indicate that the wedges are properly engaged in the work tool. Always confirm by visual inspection or by movement of the work tool that the wedges are locked in the correct position to lock the work tool in place.
When the switch is pressed to disengage the quick coupler, an audible beep will sound continuously while the coupler is disengaged. The beep will turn OFF when the coupler is engaged.
Hydraulic supply oil is supplied to the quick coupler valve from the implement valve. The ECM will use the load sense solenoid to direct supply oil to the quick coupler circuit or to block the oil supply from the circuit.
The ECM monitors pressure in the system. If pressure is lower than
