Removal Procedure

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Disconnect spring assemblies (1).

2. Remove heat shield (2) (if equipped).

3. Disconnect spring assemblies (3).

4. Remove heat shield (4).

5. Remove band clamps (6).

   Note: Band clamps (6) are designed for one time use.

6. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to remove exhaust line (5). The weight of exhaust line (5) is approximately 30 kg (66 lb).

7. Remove exhaust line (7).

8. Remove brackets (9).

9. Disconnect exhaust elbow (8).

10. Repeat step 8 and step 9 for the opposite side.

11. Loosen clamps (11) and clamps (12).

12. Remove hose (10) and hose (13).

13. Remove bolts (15).

14. Remove shield (14).

22. Disconnect line (24) and line (25).

24. Attach a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (28). The approximate weight of turbocharger (28) is 270 kg (595 lb).

25. Remove bolts (27).

26. Remove turbocharger (28).

27. Repeat step 24, step 25, and step 26 for the opposite side.
