The engine is the source of the mechanical power. The engine transfers power from the engine flywheel to the generator. When commanded, the generator transfers electrical power to the power inverter. Through 3 sets of transistors, the electrical power is converted to direct current and sent to the bus bars contained within the power inverter. The direct current power is converted to pulsed direct current via another set of 3 transistors and sent to the motor when commanded. The motor provides the mechanical torque and speed to the bevel and transfer gears. The bevel and transfer gears turn the inner axle shaft to send power to the steering differential and brake. The steering differential turns the machine and the brake stops the machine. The power from the steering differential and brakes is transferred through the outer axle shafts to the final drives. The sprockets on the final drives transfer the mechanical power to the tracks to move the machine.
