A procedure to realign transmission slide rails is available for certain D6T and D8T Track-Type Tractors.
Rail alignment should be checked whenever a cracked or broken non-metallic roller is discovered as the transmission is removed from the machine. The relocation of transmission slide rails and installation of metallic slide rollers will improve the service life of the machine.

This procedure is adaptable to the machines within the listed serial numbers, and is effective with all machines after the listed serial numbers.

- Weld new bosses (1) in the correct location.
Note: Take care to clean all weld chips, spatter, grinder dust, and any other debris from the case. Cleanliness in this area is critical to successful transmission operation.
- Install the rails.
- Install new steel 523-4605 Rollers (2) to replace the current steel or non-metallic 6T-3852 Rollers.

If the final drives are removed, look inside the case and make sure that the rollers are not resting tight on the rail and not hitting the front of the case with the transmission correctly torqued in position.
On a D8 only, if the roller is hitting the front of the case, you may need to remove the transmission and grind some material from the case where the roller is contacting. This possibility is slight, but should be checked.
