An Improved Rotary Switch Assembly Is Now Used on Certain D3K2, D4K2, and D5K2 Track-Type Tractors {1408, 7301} Caterpillar

D5K2 (S/N: KW21-2759; KY21-3222; WT31-2206; YT31-2167; RRE1-2229)

Description Of Change: An improved rotary switch assembly is now used on the machines listed above. This new rotary switch assembly incorporates a new injection molding process and improved sealing at the potentiometer shaft that eliminates water paths to the internal areas under the switch for improved switch reliability.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

Typical example (A) Screw (B) 460-7263 Rotary Switch As (C) Console As

1. Remove the two screws (A). Save the parts.

2. Pull the 460-7263 Rotary Switch As (B) out of the console assembly (C) to remove the connecting harness. Discard the Rotary Switch As and save the other parts.

Installation Procedure

(A) Screw (1) 526-5747 Rotary Switch As (C) Console As

1. Install the new 526-5747 Rotary Switch As (1) to the console assembly (C).

2. Install the screws (A) which were saved in the Step 1 of "Removal Procedure".
