Cooling Fan Is Always ON

Usage:

C7.1 770
This procedure is only applicable to applications that have a remotely driven cooling fan.

Probable Causes

  • Cooling fan control

Recommended Actions

Complete the procedure in the order in which the steps are listed.

1. Check the Operation of the Cooling Fan

A. Establish communication between the electronic service tool and the Electronic Control Module (ECM). If necessary, refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tools".

B. Check the value of the fan control parameters.
 

Cooling Fan Parameters
 

Result: The parameters are not programmed to allow the fan to operate.

Repair: The ECM is not controlling the cooling fan. Use the electronic service tool to program the required cooling fan parameters.

Result: The parameters are programmed to allow the fan to operate.

Repair: The ECM is controlling the cooling fan. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Cooling Fan Control - Test" to troubleshoot the cooling fan.
