Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Field service reports indicate that the exhaust tubes may crack.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of the problem, but an interim repair has not yet been defined.

Check the 295-6261 Exhaust Tube As and the 295-6263 Exhaust Tube As for cracking around the bellows area. Replace a cracked exhaust tube with the same part.

Follow the instruction below if you have experienced cracking of an exhaust tube.

  1. Downloaded from Electronic Technician (ET), create a Product Status Report (PSR).

  2. Submit a Dealer Solution Network (DSN) ticket quoting CPI number 377937. Attach the PSR, and photos of the cracked exhaust tube to the DSN.

  3. Request that the Tier 1 representative, transfer your ticket to an available Tier 2 representative for Caterpillar Underground Mining - Base Machine. The Tier 2 representative will request the machine serial number and machine operating hours.

  4. Submit a Service Information Management System (SIMS) report. Attach the PSR, and photos of the cracked exhaust tube to the SIMS report.
