This Special Instruction outlines the use of a jumper harness to attach work tools equipped with a 14-pin connector and requiring 5 or fewer auxiliary electrical outputs to the host machine. For work tools equipped with a 7-pin connector or requiring 6 auxiliary electrical outputs, refer to M0075056, "Installing the Conversion Harness for non-Cat Hydromechanical (Complex) Work Tools".
Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.
Safety Section
Do not perform any procedure in this special instruction until you have read this special instruction and you understand this information. Use only proper tools and observe all precautions that pertain to the use of those tools. Failure to follow these procedures can result in personal injury. Observe the following procedures.
Work safely. Most accidents that involve product operation, maintenance, and repair are caused by failure to observe basic safety rules or precautions. An accident can often be avoided by recognizing potentially hazardous situations before an accident occurs.
A person must be alert to potential hazards. This person should also have the necessary training, skills, and tools to perform these functions properly.
Safety precautions and warnings are provided in this instruction and on the product. If these hazard warnings are not heeded, bodily injury or death could occur to you or to other persons. Caterpillar cannot anticipate every possible circumstance that might involve a potential hazard.
Therefore, the warnings in this publication and the warnings that are on the product are not all inclusive.

Prevent the machine from movement. Park the machine on a level surface.
Attach a "Do Not Operate" warning tag or a similar warning tag to the start switch or to the controls before you service the equipment . These warning tags (Special Instruction, SEHS7332) are available from your Caterpillar dealer.

For machines not equipped with a work tool electrical connector, more parts will be required. Refer to one of the following publications:
- Special Instruction, REHS7806, "Installing the 388-8265 Work Tool Electrical Harness Kit".
- Special Instruction, REHS7814, "Installing the 388-8273 Work Tool Electrical Harness with Left-Hand Joystick".
Installation Procedure
- Slide the Sleeve (3) over the Harness As (1) and position the sleeve temporarily near the existing plug assembly.
- Determine which cab controls you want to energize the control solenoids on the work tool. In case D-Series machine has no work tool harness, Refer to Table 3 for the machine configuration and the part numbers that need to be ordered.
