Piston Cooling Jets No Longer Used In Some Applications {1200}

Usage:

3208 Truck Engines (2Z ) Rated At 150 kW (200 hp) @ 2000 rpm And 160 kW (215 hp) @ 2200 rpm

Description of Change: The piston cooling jets (orifices) are no longer used on certain 3208 Truck Engines with the above ratings. Plugs are used instead. The engine arrangements affected now have smaller oil coolers, smaller oil filters, and the oil refill capacity has been reduced from 19 L (20 qt) to 17 L (18 qt).

Adaptable To: The elimination of the piston cooling jets is effective with 3208 Truck Engine 2Z30692 with a rating of either 150 kW (200 hp) @ 2000 rpm or 160 kW (215 hp) @ 2200 rpm. When rebuilding earlier engines with these ratings, the cooling jets may continue to be used, but do not have to be replaced. If cooling jets are not used, 7N4953 Plugs must be installed in their place.
