Reference: Engine Guide Bulletin No. VM-3, SEBF2581, "3208 Pleasure Craft Cruise Kits (On-Board Spares)."
Convenient spare parts kits for Caterpillar 3208 Marine Engines are now available (Cruise Kits). These kits are intended to provide the spare parts necessary to perform essential maintenance or repairs when a boat is away from its home seaport and/or away from a source of genuine Caterpillar parts. Customer supplied information such as serial number, engine arrangement number along with seawater pump and other engine data, enable Caterpillar dealers to assemble Cruise Kits that are customized for a specific engine. There are three different levels of Cruise Kits available.
... Cruise I is intended for the inland or coastal user and includes filters, selected gaskets, sea water pump repair kit (impeller & seals), belts, etc.
... Cruise II is for the user who cruises far off the coast and includes parts needed for servicing minor problems at remote seaports or for secondary repairs at sea. Kit includes everything from the Cruise I Kit; plus critical hoses, spare fuel injector(s), other spare repair parts and manuals depending upon your configuration.
... Cruise III is for the exceptional user who requires an extensive collection of spare parts for extended time out of port. Kit includes everything from Cruise I and II Kits plus Service Manuals, other service literature, other hoses that might be damaged and special parts for custom installations. (All are described in the Service Manual or in supplemental literature supplied by the dealer.)
Cruise Kits are intended to provide on-board spares which might otherwise be unavailable during a cruise. They are not intended to provide consumables such as filters and gaskets for routine maintenance.
