Introduction

This Special Instruction provides the information required to install PLE641 Cellular Radio Product Link in place of PLE631 Satellite Radio Product Link, or PLE631 Satellite Radio Product Link in place of PLE641 Cellular Radio Product Link on certain M-Series Medium Wheel Loaders.

The machine is required to have PLE641 Cellular Radio Product Link or PLE631 Satellite Radio Product Link previously installed.

To install PLE641 Cellular Radio Product Link or PLE631 Satellite Radio Product Link, refer to Special Instruction, SEHS0278 , "Installation Procedure for Elite Product Link® PLE641 and PLE631 Systems on M Series Medium Wheel Loaders".

Note: Refer to Special Instruction , REHS8850 , "Installation Procedure for the Elite Product LinkTM PLE641 and PLE631 Systems" for more information about Product Link installations, including flash, configuration, and registration.

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Prepare the Machine

  1. Move the machine to a smooth level area free from obstructions.

  2. Turn the machine switch to the OFF position and set the parking brake.

  3. Perform lock out / tag out procedure on operator controls in the machine cab.

  • 442-7199 Communication Radio Gp (PLE631)

Installation Procedure

Note: De-register the machine from VisionLink prior to changing the hardware in the cab. Refer to Special Instruction , REHS8850 , "Installation Procedure for the Elite Product LinkTM PLE641 and PLE631 Systems" for more details.

  1. Remove trim panel to expose electronic control assembly (cellular radio or satellite radio).

  2. Remove rear upper headliner to expose antenna connections.

  3. Install replacement electronic control assembly in place of existing electronic control assembly at the location shown in Illustration 1. Reuse harness connections, antenna connections, and plugs.

  4. Connect appropriate wires for replacement Product Link system.

    When installing 440-2105 Communication Radio Gp (PLE641 Cellular Radio), install the following antenna connections to the existing coaxial extension cable:

    • Cellular connection (Brown wire) (B)

    • GPS data connection (Blue wire) (C)

    When installing 442-7199 Communication Radio Gp (PLE631 Satellite Radio), install the following connections to the existing coaxial extension cable:

    • Satellite connection (White wire) (A)

    • GPS data connection (Blue wire) (C)

  5. Flash radio ECM with the latest software, and register the Product Link. No configuration file is required for the radio ECM.

    Refer to Special Instruction , REHS8850 , "Installation Procedure for the Elite Product LinkTM PLE641 and PLE631 Systems" , Flash PLE641 or PLE631 Product Link System Using Winflash.

  6. Reinstall trim panel.

  7. Reinstall rear upper headliner.
