Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove panel (1) and repeat for the opposite side. Open the engine compartment doors.

  2. Disconnect hose assembly (2) and remove clamp assembly (4).

  3. Loosen clamp (1) and remove clamp assembly (5) and (6).

  4. Remove tube assembly (3).

  5. Disconnect tube (7) and place to the side.

  6. Disconnect tube (8) and remove breather assembly (9).

  7. Disconnect harness assembly (10). Remove the nuts and the washers (not shown) and position harness assembly (10) and bracket assembly (11) to the side.

  8. Remove two studs (12). Remove washers (13) and springs (14).

  9. Remove eight bolts (15). Remove washers (13) and springs (14).

    Note: Ensure that all stud bolts, bolts, washers, and springs have been fully removed from the valve mechanism cover prior to the removal of the cover.

  10. Remove valve mechanism cover (16).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the valve mechanism (16) cover in the reverse order.

    1. Tighten bolts (15) and stud bolts (12) in the above sequence.

    2. Tighten clamp on breather assembly (9) to a torque of 4.5 ± 0.5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb in).
