Description of Change: New software is now available for certain M series Medium Wheel Loaders for the Implement, Transmission, Relay Driver module, Display, and Product Link PL522 ECMs.

For Product Link VIMS, refer to the Service Magazine given in the reference section.

Implement Software Changes

  • First Production flash file for 950M and 962M

  • Upgraded Caterpillar Production Measurement feature

  • Modified default Battery Cable Shield Monitor to "Enable" state

  • Resolved erroneous fuel level reporting when key switch is OFF

  • Configured Implement Swash Plate Angle sensor fault codes to WCI level 2

  • Modified Implement torque limits status parameters to Active state

  • Updated kickout and snubbing maps for 966M and 972M machines

  • Addressed the latching conditions for diagnostic codes 800-9 and 248-9

  • Configured the WCI to level 2 for the Implement Pump Pressure sensor diagnostic

Transmission Software Changes

  • First Production flash file for 950M and 962M machines

  • Updated Steering System to reduce activations of the secondary steering pump

  • Updated Steering System performance tuning values

  • Enhanced logic for Event 284: Low Brake Accumulator Pressure: WCI 3

  • Added Event 1560: Low Brake Accumulator Pressure Due to Low Engine Speed

  • Enhance logic for Transmission Fill Calibration

  • Enhanced logic for Wheel Speed Sensor Diagnostic detection: CID 605-2 and CID 608-2

  • Enhanced In Gear Slip Detection logic to prevent unnecessary detection

  • Removed ability to change lock down shift tables on 980M

  • Removed condition to Keep ECM Alive During DES

  • Consolidated total hours, total distance, and total number of occurrences to one cohesive unit

  • Enhanced torque converter and transmission speed sensing during "Active" mode

  • Enhanced cold mode start / crank

  • Enhanced implementation of the cylinder arbitration block

  • Enhanced Backup Alarm functionality

  • Improved autoshift points when Economy Mode is active for 966M and 972M

Relay Driver Module Software Changes

Added compatibility with new HVAC and Wiper Dial inputs. This software remains backwards compatible.

Display Module Software Improvements

  • Info pop-up updates for DES, DEF Purge, and Lockup Clutch Engaged

  • New Info Display hardware now programs itself with the machine serial number

  • 3rd and 4th function value flow settings now able to be set down to 20%

  • Selectable Quad feature

  • Caterpillar Production Measurement support with Network Manager and Legacy VIMS

PL 522 Software Changes

Note: Enter the part number of the files, when searching for the software and configuration files in SIS Web. Entering the machines Serial Number will not always give the compatible configuration file for the flash file used on the VIMS / Product Link platform.

  • Enhanced support for the currently selected Material ID information to be available along with the Truck ID information, on certain MWL machines equipped with Cat Production Measurement

  • Implemented resolution for potential ECM resets that could result in generating incorrect or missing printer ticket information on certain MWL machines equipped with Cat Production Measurement or Payload Control System

  • Enhanced the ability to change units of measurement between English and Metric, on certain MWL machines equipped with Payload Control System
