The 164-8940 System Communication Module Gp was released for use with the ADEM II Electronic Control Module (ECM). The 3500B Marine Engines that are listed above use an ADEM III ECM.

During the initial start-up at some installations, the 164-8940 System Communication Module Gp was not compatible with the communications of the vessels' computers. This problem was corrected by replacing the 164-8940 System Communication Module Gp with the newer 188-3080 System Communication Module Gp .

The 188-3080 System Communication Module Gp was released for use with with the ADEM III ECM. When a CCM is ordered with an engine that is listed in Table 1, the 188-3080 System Communication Module Gp will be shipped with the engine.

Note: If the operation is normal, vessels that are currently in service with the 164-8940 System Communication Module Gp do not require replacement of the 164-8940 System Communication Module Gp.
