LH side of the machine (1) Ingress Lighting Switch (2) FWD ROPS Flood Lamp |
The Ingress Lighting switch (1) is a momentary switch to illuminate the machine to facilitate operator accessibility to the machine. The ROPS Flood Lamps (2) will be lighted upon actuation of the switch. The ROPS Flood Lamps will be lighted for up to 20 minutes. The “Time ON” duration of the Ingress Lighting feature is configurable in the display. The lamps will turn OFF if the switch is again actuated.
Note: If the lights toggle quickly on and off when activating the ground level lighting switch then reference the Menus (Instrument Cluster)Machine Setup, UENR1247. This timer could be set to 0 which can cause this fault to happen. Setting the value to 1 will cause the blinking to stop. This action will limit the amount of time the lights will be on for 1 minute.
The FWD ROPS Lamps will also illuminate the machine to facilitate operator exit from the machine. When the ignition key switch is ON or the engine is running the Forward ROPS lights can be controlled as normal by the Forward Flood Lamp switch in the cab. If the ignition key switch and engine are turned OFF while the Forward Flood Lamp switch is ON, the Forward ROPS Flood Lamp (2) will remain ON for up to 20 minutes (configurable in the display). The Forward ROPS Lamps can be deactuated by either turning OFF the Forward Flood Lamp switch (in the cab) or by actuating the Ingress Lighting switch (1). The “Time ON” duration of the Ingress (Egress) Lighting feature is configurable in the display.
The ROPS Flood Lamps do not activate for Operator Ingress
If the Forward ROPS Flood Lamps fail to operate when the Ingress Lighting switch is actuated, the following are possible causes:
- Fuse failure
- Short in a harness circuit
- Open in a harness circuit
- Ingress Lighting Switch failure
- Forward Flood switch failure
- Relay failure
- Flood Lamp failure
- Power Train ECM failure
Note: The Ingress Lighting switch will light only the Forward ROPS Lamps. The Forward Flood Lamp switch (in the cab) will light the Cylinder Flood Lamps and the Forward ROPS Lamps. If the Forward ROPS Lamps circuit is functioning properly, either switch should illuminate the lamps.
- Check if the ROPS Flood lamps and Cylinder Flood lamps light. Actuate the FWD Flood switch.
- Check the fuse.
- Check for +Battery voltage on the unswitched power circuit (wire 102-RD(Red)).
- Check the Ingress Lighting switch. +Battery voltage should be present on the circuit wire (A607-PK(Pink)) when the Ingress Lighting switch is actuated.
- The relays may have failed. Check for +Battery voltage on wire (615-YL(Yellow)) when the Ingress Lighting Switch is actuated.
- If the cause of the Ingress Lighting feature failure is not found, the ECM may have failed. This situation is unlikely. Prior to replacing an ECM, always contact your technical communicator for possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce repair time. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace".
