Introduction

This test will determine the following conditions.

  • The oil pressure to the transmission lubrication circuit is good.

  • The oil pressure to the transmission lubrication circuit is good during the retarder operation.

Left Side of Transmission
(1) Pressure tap for transmission lubrication

  1. At pressure tap (1), connect Tooling (A).

Test Procedure

  1. With the parking brake engaged, start and operate the engine at LOW IDLE rpm with the transmission in NEUTRAL. The pressure on the gauge should read 5 kPa (1 psi) to 62 kPa (9 psi).

  2. With the transmission in NEUTRAL, operate the engine at HIGH IDLE rpm. The pressure on the gauge should be between 100 kPa (15 psi) to 275 kPa (40 psi).
