Procedures For Updating D6R Series III For Compatibility With the latest Version Of Power Train Software and Electronic Monitoring System III (EMS){7620}

D6R Series III (S/N: GJB1-371; WCB1-132; HCD1-144; HKE1-170; WRG1-307; JDL1-126; GMT1-117; MRT1-239; HDC1-169; TBC1-151; LFM1-138; DPS1-123; DMK1-162; RFC1-140; MTJ1-151; DLM1-160)

Introduction

These Special Instructions, REHS3307, "Procedures For Updating D6R Series III For Compatibility With the latest Version Of Power Train Software and Electronic Monitoring System III (EMS)" will provide the procedures to update your D6R Series III in order to be compatible with 304-1764 Power Train Software or the latest version of power train software, 306-6467 Electronic Monitoring System III (EMS) , or the latest version of Electronic Monitoring System III (EMS).

The following procedures should be completed on all D6R Series III machines that receive new software without upgrading to MVP functions. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS3096, "Procedures For Installing Multi-Velocity Program (MVP) In the D6R Series III" if you want to update your D6R Series III to MVP.

Note: This Special Instruction does not apply to the following machines: Refer to Special Instruction, REHS3096, "Procedures For Installing Multi-Velocity Program (MVP) In the D6R Series III" for the following machines that are listed below:

  • TBC1-151 with 232-6199 Sound Suppression Arrangement , 232-6200 Sound Suppression Arrangement , or 232-6202 Sound Suppression Arrangement

  • LFM1-138 with 232-6199 Sound Suppression Arrangement , 232-6200 Sound Suppression Arrangement , or 232-6202 Sound Suppression Arrangement

  • DPS1-123 with 232-6199 Sound Suppression Arrangement , 232-6200 Sound Suppression Arrangement , or 232-6202 Sound Suppression Arrangement

  • DMK1-162 with 232-6199 Sound Suppression Arrangement , 232-6200 Sound Suppression Arrangement , or 232-6202 Sound Suppression Arrangement

  • RFC1-140 with 232-6199 Sound Suppression Arrangement , 232-6200 Sound Suppression Arrangement , or 232-6202 Sound Suppression Arrangement

  • MTJ1-151 with 232-6199 Sound Suppression Arrangement , 232-6200 Sound Suppression Arrangement , or 232-6202 Sound Suppression Arrangement

Note: The following procedures should be completed in order for your D6R Series III to be compatible with 304-1764 Power Train Software or the latest version of power train software and your tractor will continue to be 3 speed.

  • Install the "T" harness.

  • Rework the wire assembly for the steering filter bypass.

  • Install the jumper wire to the wiring harness for the dash behind the instrument panel on certain tractors.

  • Flash the software.

Installing the "T" Harness

  1. Remove right hand side armrest (1) .

  1. Unbolt switch plate (2) and disconnect the switches.

  1. Unscrew the switch for the horn and remove the top cover (3) .

  1. Unbolt right hand cover assembly (4) and remove the cover assembly (4) .

  1. Unbolt bracket (5) that is holding the soundproof panel and remove the panel.

  1. Unbolt cover (7) for front access and remove cover (7) .

  1. Unbolt joystick (8) from plate (9) .

  1. Unbolt plate (8) and hold plate (9) at a 45 degree angle.

  1. Unbolt the clips (B) for the connectors that are located through cover (7) .

  1. Unplug gray 12-pin connector (10) and 4-pin connector (11) .

    Note: Do not unplug the green 12-pin connector.

  1. Assemble the clip (B) for the connector to 12-pin connector (D) on the receptacle assembly.

  1. Install 287-6143 Receptacle Assembly . Plug 12-pin connector (10) into 12-pin connector (12). Plug 12-pin connector (13) into 12-pin connector (D) on the switch harness assembly.

  1. Remove the sealing plug (A) on the 4-pin connector from the receptacle assembly for the switch. Plug the 4-pin connector of the receptacle assembly (B) into the 4-pin connector (11) on the right hand console.

  1. Plug the 4-pin connector for the sealing plug on the receptacle assembly (A) that is shown in Illustration 7 into 4-pin connector (14). Refer to Illustration 8.

  1. Fasten the 4-pin connectors to the right hand console with a tie strap.

  1. Fasten the 12-pin connectors to the boss with bolts and clips for the connectors.

  1. Fasten all of the connectors to the main wiring harness.

    Note: Make sure that all of the connectors are fastened to the main wiring harness in order to prevent the connectors from moving.

  1. Reassemble the dash.

  1. Proceed to ""Rework the Wire Assembly For the Steering Filter Bypass " ".

Note: You must make a wire assembly with the parts that are shown in Table 3.

  1. Lift battery box (18) to the open position.

  1. Remove door assembly (19) for the fuse panel.

  1. Disassemble the starter cable in order to provide access to the platform harness.

  1. Cut the tie strap on the harness for the Hydraulic Filter (20) .

  1. Grasp the breakout for the hydraulic filter (20) and remove the sealing plug from the 2-pin connector.

  1. Make a wire assembly with the parts that are shown in Table 3. Connect the wire assembly to the 2-pin connector and fasten the wire assembly to the platform harness with a tie strap.

  1. Proceed to ""Install the Jumper Wire To the Wiring Harness For the Dash Behind the Instrument Panel" ".

  1. Check the label on the wiring harness under the dash for the Machines that are listed below:

    • (S/N: GJB1-188)

    • (S/N: HCD1-125)

    • (S/N: HDC1)

    • (S/N: HKE1-148)

    • (S/N: MRT1-169)

    • (S/N: WCB1)

    • (S/N: WRG1-169)

    Note: A jumper wire needs to be run from the 40-pin connector for EMS to the 70-pin connector on the 226-9666 Panel Harness Assembly that is located behind the dash. Run the jumper wire from pin number 25 on the 40-pin connector to pin number 26 on the 70-pin connector if the panel harness assembly is "04" or lower. Proceed to Step 2.

    Note: If the 226-9666 Panel Harness Assembly is "05" or higher proceed to ""Flash the Software" ".

  1. Make a 633 mm (24.921 inch) length of wire with a connector pin and a connector socket. Connect this wire from pin number 26 on 70-pin connector (22) to pin number 25 on 40-pin connector (21) .

  1. Proceed to ""Flash the Software" ".

Flash the Software

  1. After all modifications to the wiring for the tractor have been completed flash the new software.

    Note: Flash the software in the following order:
