Electronic control system of the D6R Series III Power Train

The Power Train control module (ECM) on the D6R Series III tractor enables electronic control for the transmission. The ECM electronically controls the operation of the braking system. If the machine is equipped with the electronic hydraulic implement system, the ECM will control the solenoids that enable the movement of the dozer blade.

Machines that are equipped with the electrohydraulic control group can be equipped with the Attachment Ready Option (ARO). The ARO equipped machines have several electrical components in the system that enable the ECM to control the Accugrade GPS system, if equipped. The wiring harness on ARO equipped machines is configured for mating connections to the electrical components of the Accugrade GPS system.

The machine can be equipped with the Variable Power Angle Tilt (VPAT) dozer blade. Machines that are equipped with the VPAT blade use a hydraulic manifold with two proportional solenoids that will enable the ECM to control the angle of the dozer blade. The angle of the blade is determined by the position sensor of the thumb wheel on the blade control handle which will provide input information to the ECM.

Refer to Systems Operation, RENR9867, "Machine Electronic Control System" for more information on the components that are controlled by the Power Train ECM of the D6R Series III tractor.
