The latest versions of Payload Control System (PCS) Software are now available on SISweb. These latest versions of PCS software (2.11 and 2.11R) contain improvements to the following features:
- Data link saturation
- Default system settings
- Ticket printing
- Productivity report data
This release of PCS software (2.11 and 2.11R) represents the final software release for the Payload Control System.
Software Changes
EMS Alarm and Indicator Issues
EMS alarm and indicator issues that may occur on machines equipped with PCS have been eliminated. Symptoms of these issues have included:
- Warning lights and alarms turning on and off inexplicably
- Fault codes for engine, transmission, or Cat Monitoring System ECM communication problems
- Poor engine or transmission performance
The Default Setting for "Skew Resolution"
The default setting for "Skew Resolution" has changed from "Low" to "Middle". This will reduce the number of "REW-2" messages that are seen by the operator. While this change will reduce the number of "REW-2" messages, the operator must still remember to maintain a constant engine RPM while weighing. If the operator does not maintain a constant engine RPM while weighing, accuracy may be reduced.
The Default Setting for "Velocity Check"
The default setting for "Velocity Check" has changed from 10 to 20. This will reduce the number of "REW-3" messages that are seen by the operator. While this change will reduce the number of "REW-3" messages, the operator must still remember to maintain a smooth operation while weighing. If the operator does not maintain a smooth operation while weighing, accuracy may be reduced.
Ticket Printing Issues
Ticket printing issues (problems with printing multiple tickets, incorrect individual loads and totals, etc.) have been resolved.
Pressure Sensor Values
Pressure sensor values for PCS will now be correctly displayed in Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET).
Total Payload Weight and Total Trucks Loaded
Total Payload Weight and Total Trucks Loaded are now available on the data link for productivity reporting.
The Operator Message "Lift Bucket 10 Times"
The Operator Message "Lift Bucket 10 Times" has been changed to "Lift Bucket 3 Times". The "Lift Bucket 3 Times" message will appear if the machine has rested for four hours or more. This will decrease the warm up time required. The decrease in the number of lifts requested is intended to encourage the operator to perform this procedure.
Note: While three lifts will allow for adequate exercising of the linkage pins, it may not allow for adequate warming of the hydraulics.
PCS Software Part Numbers
The new versions of PCS software (2.11 and 2.11R) are direct replacements for previous versions of PCS software, including versions 2.05, 2.06, 2.07/2.07R, 2.09/2.09R, and 2.10/2.10R. Refer to Table 1 for part numbers.

Procedure
When updating from software versions 2.05, 2.06, or 2.07, the previous calibration will NOT be retained, and recalibration of the system is required.
When updating from software versions 2.09 or 2.10, the previous calibration will be retained, and therefore recalibration of the system is not required. However, the previous "Skew Resolution" and "Velocity Check" settings will also be retained in the software and will NOT be set to the new default values of version 2.11.
