Engine Crankcase Breather - Clean

Perform this maintenance with the engine stopped. |
If the crankcase breather is not maintained on a regular basis, the crankcase breather will become plugged. A plugged crankcase breather will cause excessive crankcase pressure that may cause crankshaft seal leakage.
- Loosen hose clamp (1) and remove breather tube connection (3) from valve cover (2) .

- Remove the valve cover. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual.
- Wash breather (4) in clean nonflammable solvent. Allow the breather to dry before installation.

- Install the valve cover. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual.
- Install the breather tube connection on the valve cover. Install the hose clamp.
