Start By:

  1. Remove the final drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive - Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to fender (1) . The weight of fender (1) is approximately 127 kg (280 lb). Remove fender (1) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device onto wheel assembly (2) . The weight of wheel assembly (2) is approximately 1678 kg (3700 lb).

  1. Attach Tooling (B) onto wheel assembly (2) in order to prevent tire movement during the removal of bearing cone (3) . Remove bearing cone (3) .

  1. Remove Tooling (B) . Remove wheel assembly (2) .

  1. Remove bearing cone (6) .Remove Duo-Cone seal (5) . Remove retainer assembly (4) .

  1. Remove Duo-Cone seal (7) from the wheel assembly. Remove bearing cups (8) and (9) .
