Automatic Lubrication Grease Tank - Fill - If Equipped

The Centro-Matic Lubrication System

Reference: Before any service work is performed on the lubrication system, refer to Special Instructions, REHS1394 or consult your Caterpillar dealer.

Bulk Fill

  1. In order to fill the reservoir, remove the lower and upper plugs from the side of the reservoir.

  1. Attach the appropriate pump to the lower inlet.

  1. Fill the reservoir until grease appears at the top vent port.

    Reference: For the correct type of grease, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities".

  1. Remove the pump and replace both plugs.

Five Gallon Bucket

  1. In order to use the reservoir with a five gallon bucket of lubricant, first remove the six bolts that secure the lid.

  1. Remove the entire assembly of lid, pump and vent valve.

  1. Remove the extension. The extension is attached inside the reservoir.

  1. Insert the opened bucket of lubricant and reattach the lid and pump assembly.

    Note: If the five gallon bucket of lubricant is used, then the optional screws should be used in place of the hex bolt.
