Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Block the tractor wheels on each side with Tooling (A) .

- Start the engine. Ensure that there is sufficient air pressure for the release of the brakes.
- Release the brakes for the scraper.

- Loosen bolt (3). Rotate bolt (2) in order to move slack adjuster (1) .
- Release air system pressure.
- Remove pin (4) .
- Place Tooling (B) under the rear of the scraper, as shown. Raise the scraper until the rear wheels are off of the ground.

- Remove bolts (7) from cover (6). Catch the fluid in a suitable container. Remove the O-ring seal from cover (6) .

- Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device onto fender (5). The weight of fender (5) is approximately 91 kg (200 lb). Remove fender (5) .
- Attach a suitable lifting device to wheel (8). The weight of wheel (8) is approximately 1905 kg (4200 lb). Remove retainer (9), the shims, and the O-ring seal. Remove wheel (8) .

- Remove the Duo-Cone seal (10). Remove bearing cups (11) .

- Remove the Duo-Cone seal (13) .
- Remove retainer (12) .
- Remove O-ring seal (16) from retainer (12) .
