  1. Apply clean engine oil to the female ends of exhaust manifold (10) before assembly. Apply Tooling (B) to the male ends of exhaust manifolds (10) before assembly. Remove excess sealer from the assembled joint.

  2. Apply Tooling (A) to the studs prior to assembly. If necessary, install the studs and tighten to a torque of 35 ± 5 N·m (26 ± 4 lb ft).

  3. Position exhaust manifold (10) on the engine.

Note: Use Tooling (C) in at least one oversize hole per manifold section in order to align the exhaust manifolds. Do not remove Tooling (C) until removal is required to tighten the locknuts.

  4. Install brackets (9), spacers (8), washers (7), and nuts (6). Tighten nuts (6) in a numerical sequence to a torque of 20 ± 3 N·m (15 ± 2 lb ft). Tighten nuts (6) again in a numerical sequence to a torque of 38 ± 5 N·m (28 ± 4 lb ft).

  1. Apply Tooling (A) to the studs prior to assembly. If necessary, install the studs and tighten to a torque of 35 ± 5 N·m (26 ± 4 lb ft).

  2. Position the gaskets, exhaust manifolds (18), and expansion joints (17) on the engine.

Note: Use Tooling (C) in at least one oversize hole per manifold section in order to align the exhaust manifolds. Do not remove Tooling (C) until removal is required to tighten the locknuts.

  3. Install brackets (16), spacers (15), the washers, and nuts (14). Tighten nuts (14) in a numerical sequence to a torque of 20 ± 3 N·m (15 ± 2 lb ft). Tighten nuts (14) again in a numerical sequence to a torque of 38 ± 5 N·m (28 ± 4 lb ft). Tighten the clamps on expansion joints (17) to a torque of 8.5 ± 1.0 N·m (75 ± 9 lb in).
