Description of Change: A new spin-on engine oil filter is now used. The new filter has improved efficiency in the filtration of particles in order to better protect critical engine components from abrasive wear. In addition, two other spin-on oil filters are available for optional service replacement.
Adaptable To: The former 2P-4005 Engine Oil Filter As is cancelled and replaced by the new 275-2604 Engine Oil Filter As (ADVANCED EFFICIENCY). New engines that are built now use the 275-2604 Engine Oil Filter As (ADVANCED EFFICIENCY).
The new optional service replacement 244-4484 Engine Oil Filter As (ULTRA HIGH EFFICIENCY) utilizes a new filter design that provides an ultra-high filtration efficiency.
The new optional service replacement 272-1788 Engine Oil Filter As (STANDARD EFFICIENCY) has a filtration efficiency that is equivalent to the former 2P-4005 Engine Oil Filter As .
The new spin-on oil filters are identical in physical size, but the new spin-on oil filters have different filtration efficiency ratings. Refer to Table 1.
The new engine oil filters will meet or will exceed the service replacement intervals that are in the Operation & Maintenance Manual.
Note: Always follow the proper installation procedures that are illustrated on the filters. Do not overtighten a filter. Do not undertighten a filter.
