Assembly Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

The compressor housing must remain straight with the turbocharger cartridge during disassembly and assembly. Tilting may cause damage to the tips of the compressor wheel and the compressor shaft.

  1. Position compressor housing (5) and turbine housing (1) on turbocharger cartridge (3).

    Note: Ensure that the mating surfaces are flush.

  2. Tighten the nuts on V-band clamp (4) to a torque of 14 ± 1 N·m (10 ± 1 lb ft). Use a soft hammer to lightly hit around the diameter of the band clamp. Tighten the nuts again to a torque of 14 ± 1 N·m (10 ± 1 lb in).

  3. Tighten the nuts on V-band clamp (2) to a torque of 14 ± 1 N·m (10 ± 1 lb in). Use a soft hammer to lightly hit around the diameter of the band clamp. Tighten the nuts again to a torque of 14 ± 1 N·m (10 ± 1 lb in).

  4. Ensure that the impeller spins freely.

End By:

  1. Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".
