Engine Overspeeds
The Engine Control Module (ECM) limits the flow of fuel in order to prevent the engine speed from exceeding 2600 rpm. The following operating conditions can cause the engine speed to exceed this value:
- An incorrect transmission gear is selected
- Improper use of an ether starting aid
- Using gasoline as a fuel
- Combustible gases enter the engine's air inlet
If the engine speed exceeds 2600 rpm, the ECM illuminates the check engine lamp and a 190-15 code is logged. Factory passwords are required in order to clear the code. No troubleshooting is required.
