Quick Stop Occurrence
The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the status of the service brake and of the vehicle's deceleration rate. If the service brake is applied and the vehicle decelerates at a rate that exceeds the value of the "Quick Stop Rate" parameter, the ECM takes the following actions:
- The ECM records the engine speed, vehicle speed, the throttle position, cruise control status, clutch switch status and brake switch status.
- A 84-14 Wheel-Based Vehicle Speed : Special Instruction code is logged.
Customer passwords are required to clear the logged code.
An excessive number of occurrences may be caused by the following conditions:
- The "Quick Stop Rate" parameter is programmed to a low value.
- The vehicle is operated without a trailer or with no load.
Note: If the vehicle is operated without a trailer or with no load, adjust the value of the "Quick Stop Rate" parameter in order to prevent excessive logging of the 84-14 code.
